Watch Tron Legacy Online
What’s the Future of Tron: Legacy?
Tron: Legacy was released almost 20 years after its predecessor, the classic sci-fi film Tron. So it’s appropriate that the film takes up 20 years after the previous movie.
Here’s a review of Tron: Legacy so you can decide if it’s worth a watch or if you should pass.
Plot Summary
Did Kevin Flynn (reprised by Jeff Bridges) run away from everything and everyone? Kevin was a brilliant programmer, and CEO of ENCOM International. Or did something else happen? Kevin’s son Sam (played by Garrett Hudland), begins to suspect that his dad just left, and bitterness colors his status as the primary shareholder of E. His dad left him; what should he think?
Alan (reprised by Bruce Boxleitner), also known as Tron, starts to wonder when he gets a page from Kevin’s arcade. Impossible. Alan tells Sam anyway, and so Sam goes to the arcade and finds his way to a secret place and Kevin’s amazing secret – a laser that can transport people to an alternate reality.
The World of the Grid
You guessed it, Sam’s digitized and enters the world of The Grid. Not knowing where the heck he was, Sam was quickly captured. Brought before the leader, Clu2 (a replica of Clu, who was Kevin’s alter in the original movie), who after discovering who he was (Kevin’s son) decides to kill him. Fortunately, Sam is whisked away from Clu by Quorra (played by Olivia Wilde). Quorra knows the true story, and takes Sam to meet his father, who is trapped in the Grid. Sam and Kevin, reunited, make plans to escape. Unfortunately, Clu is stronger than anyone guesses and the read world is in danger. The only way to defeat Clu is for Kevin to merge with him and regain control, after which Sam and Quorra escape to the real world.
Tron’s Special Effects
The original Tron, released in 1982, was the first picture to really take advantage of computer digitalization, and was amazing to audiences. Tron: Legacy is just about as good when it comes to the special effects (who can forget the light suits and light cycles?). So if you saw the original movie, you won’t be disappointed.
Go or No Go?
Should you go and see Tron: Legacy? Well, critics weren’t thrilled with it, but audiences seemed to enjoy it. The only problem was that the plot took kind of a back seat to the special effects (far too common these days).
If you liked the original movie, definitely go see Tron: Legacy. If you never saw the original, go on and see this one, but don’t expect to be wowed by the story.
