The social network movie has just recently been released and its about how mark zuckerberg went fom being a socially awkward harvard student to the youngest billionaire on the planet. Mark Zuckerberg (the CEO of facebook played by Jesse Eisenberg) attended harvard in 2003 and during his time there he stumbled upon an idea which was going to one day make him the youngest billionaire in the world. At the beginning jesse had an idea to build a basic website for entertainment for other students and local friends which allowed you to vote on hot harvard girls and you were able to go through lots of hot sexy pictures…this was called face smash. Jesse sent his new basic website to lots of friends and other harvard students and soon due to the viral nature of the internet he soon had over 22k hits to his website in only 2 hours which ended up crashing the computer servers.
Jesse`s internet prank landed him in some trouble with the harvard brass but at the same time gaining attention from some rich jocks “the Winklevoss twins” and they offer mark an opportunity to work on an idea that they have.
Jesse agrees to work on the idea and begins work on his computer writing lots of code for the website. He spends many months working and then after a few months jesse launches the new site www.facebook.com but it has nothing to do with the winklevoss twins. His new social network facebook is sent all of campus to other friends and students and soon has a few thousand members all interacting on the site. Jesse is onto a winner
The winklevoss twins soon over hear about this new social network that has launched and quickly work out that all this time jesse has not been working on there idea but in fact used there idea and set up his own social network. The winklevoss twins are furious and soon try to prosecute jesse for millions of dollars claiming that he stole there idea.
Jesse`s facebook goes on to gain even more momentum and quickly builds up to half a million members and beyond. Jesse`s best friend Eduardo Saverin helps him with facebook with the financial side of things and soon becomes the facebook co-founder.
Later on as facebook grows more and more people begin to realize that there is a lot of money to make and jesse`s best friend and co-founder Saverin gets his shares in the company cut to next to nothing and soon after he also tries to prosecute jesse for hundreds of millions of dollars as well.
Thats pretty much the basic storyline but with of course a lot more interesting stuff aswell. Its a great movie and especially as it gives you an insight how a harvard student used a simple idea which will later make him become the youngest billionaire on the planet.
