Watch The Fighter 2011 Online

The fighter is an outstanding movie based on a true story which Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) plays a professional boxer with his mother being his promoter and his half brother Dickie Eklund (Christian Bale) being his sparring partner and trainer. Dickie is an ex pro boxer himself and is the pride of there local town working class Lowell, Massachusetts but Mickey’s career ended some 14 years previous after a humiliating defeat by the legend Sugar Ray Leonard which left him in bad shape and his life soon went downhill from there and he soon got involved in drugs.

Dickie is now a crack head with a serious addiction but he still manages to turn up to help train Mickey but he is usually late and sometimes even forgets the time and never even turns up at all. Even when the day of the fight comes Dickie still doesn’t turn up and the family have to constantly track him down at the crack house so that he can be in his brothers corner for the fight.

Mickie’s mother arranges another fight with a reasonable pay day but the original fighter ends up becoming ill so a stand in fighter is arranged but he is 20 lbs heavier which would make him a middle weight. The fight still goes ahead but Mickie gets battered and is yet again forced to re-think about his future as a boxer as a local big name promoter offers Mickey a proposition which has no choice but to accept as his current situation is more like a circus.

Dickie doesn’t take the news too well and the family argues about the decisions. Dickie soon ends up getting into some serious trouble and is arrested for numerous charges and is sentenced to prison for many months. Mickie ends up making a fresh start with his new manager while keeping his current trainer/fitness coach a local sheriff.

Dickie takes on a few fights and soon is offered a shot at the title by a kind of an accident but realizes that this is one and only chance and makes sure he has exactly what he needs to succeed and one of those people is his brother Dickie. Dickie gets released from prison after going cold turkey and then insists that he should become Mickie’s training partner and sparring partner again but Mickie originally made a deal with his new manager that he wont ever train with his brother again if he wants to keep his current manager who is giving him his best chance at becoming a world champion.

This film is easily one of the best movies that I’ve watched for many months, its not only a story about a boxer and his journey to becoming a world boxing champion but it also shows the real life struggles that families face and how life really is for the working class people and its not sugar coated at all. Mark Wahlberg plays a great part as a boxer and Christian Bale plays yet another absolutely excellent part as the crack head junkie known as Dickie.

Its an awesome movie one that you should not be missed. This is really on a glimpse of what happens in the film.
