If your thinking about watching And Soon The Darkness then i will start by saying its actually a pretty good film considering the title is a little bit lame. If you like thrillers then you will like this movie as there’s plenty of action, suspense and violence.
I wouldn’t say its been a massive hollywood blockbuster hit as i didn’t even know it was coming out unlike the movie Unstoppable where it was pretty much on every bill board and tv commercial but when i eventually watched it i didn’t think it lived up to its write ups and reviews but anyway that’s another story. And soon the darkness is one of those movies where you think its going to be a flop but i found myself finding it very gripping and after a short while the story gets quite good.
The story is about two hot girls stephanie (Amber heard) and Ellie (Odette Yustman) which take a vacation to an exotic village with the sun and handsome locals in Argentina. The two girls didn’t initially go on vacation alone but they were separated from there group so they had one night to let there hair down before having to get the bus out of the town the following morning but the next bus after this wasn’t for days so they had to make sure they didn’t miss it.
They both go out the night before to a local bar for a few drinks and it didn’t take long before Ellie attracted some attention from a local guy and they begin talking. Stephanie decides to go back to the hotel and Ellie comes back later after falling out with this local guy that couldn’t take no for an answer.
The following morning they both end up getting up late so they miss the bus and now have to wait around for another few days until the next bus arrives, so the same day they both decided to go out and see some local sites to relax and soak up the sun. They have a bit of a falling out and stephanie decides to leave and ride back towards to the village on her bike hoping that ellie would shortly follow. A few hours pass by and stephanie soon realizes that something is not right and goes back to see where ellie is but all she finds is her cell phone but no trace of ellie.
Stephanie contacts the local police and goes to try and find ellie but something clearly isn’t right and it seems like everyone is a suspect in this small hick town. Stephanie meets another guy who is american and also stays in the village and his girlfriend disappeared too, many months ago so they both set out to find both ellie and the guys girlfriend. Stephanie can trust no one and time is running out and she soon realizes that if she doesn’t find ellie soon she probably wont ever see her again as she hears that many girls are kidnapped and take over the border to Paraguay and are sold to the highest bidder.
Can stephanie trust this American guy or is he just another suspect with ellies kidnapping? Its a gripping movie with plenty of drama and is well worth watching.
