A professional organized team of bank robbers including Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown) carry out there latest robbery on a city bank and get away with millions of dollars and then take a vacation while living in a life of luxury.
While the team are enjoying there vacation they are approached by an ex-gang member (T.I) who has an interesting new proposal for the team. T.I has just recently been released from prison after serving a 5 year sentance after a previous job went wrong and quite obviously holds a grudge against the team for him having to serve 5 years behind bars. Not only are the team confronted with this new job but they also have two obsessive detectives Welles (Matt Dillon) and Hatcher (Jay Hernandez) on there back. The team decide to take up T.I on his offer trusting his word that he wont double cross them. They only have five days to plan the heist where there going to be stealing $20 million from an mobile armored van, using explosive charges beneath the street to intercept the truck. What could possibly go wrong?
The team start to prepare the robbery while still having doubt that T.I is still in fact true to his word. T.I is able to provide exact information and times where the armored truck is going to be on a certain day, but this makes the team even more suspicious that fact that he knows all of this inside information. T.I says he did some favours for the russians inside so they repaid him by providing him with this information if he decides to go ahead with it.
The day comes and all preperation has been made, all the exposives have been installed and then all they do is patiently wait untill the truck arrives.
The whole heist is a disaster, but somehow they are still able to escape with some money. The team evade the police and then meet up at a neutral location within the city. One of there team members is spotted by the obsessive detectives Welles and Hatcher in a subway station and begins chasing him around the city. One of the agents ends up being killed and the gang member escapes. Shortly after the heist it is soon realized that T.I had in fact double crossed them and now the takers gang not only need to find T.I and retrieve the money but they need to evade the obsessive detective welles at the same time.
Will the takers end up getting out of this mess? And at what cost?
Takers is a very entertaining movie and especially a specific free running style chase.
